PAAA, in conjunction with our Pennsylvania Allergy Education Research Fund (PAERF) Committee, provides several initiatives to foster the legacy of this organization and to help lead future allergists to successful careers in our field. These include:
- Mentoring Program that partners fellows in training with current practicing allergists.
- FIT Reception at the 2023 Annual Meeting.
- Travel reimbursements to each Allergy/Immunology Fellowship program in Pennsylvania, underwriting one or more fellows’ attendance at the annual scientific meeting. The nominated fellow(s) is expected to participate in the poster competition, an invaluable opportunity to present their work in a scientific forum.
- Grant funding to support educational and research endeavors related to the field of allergy and immunology.
A Message from PAAA President Robert M. Zemble, M.D.
I am excited to serve as the president of the Board of Regents of the Pennsylvania Asthma and Allergy Association for the 2022-23 year. I am determined to continue to advocate for patients with allergic, asthmatic, and immunologic disorders and the physicians who care for them. After a two-year hiatus from in person meetings, it is joyful to interact with our colleagues once again in person at our annual meeting, which has always been the highlight of our mission to educate physicians and additional clinicians in the field of allergy, asthma, and immunology. We have been able to continue to distribute grants for fellows-in-training to attend our Annual Meeting and once again have been able to offer a research grant through our Pennsylvania Allergy Educational and Research Fund. I encourage all our members to continue to support PAERF. PAAA and the Board of Regents will continue to monitor and support appropriate legislative activity in our state related to the needs of our physicians and allergic patients. During my presidential year, I hope to continue to promote the unique training and clinical excellence of board-certified allergists/immunologists to our colleagues in primary care, additional specialties, and patients to advance the best quality of care for our patients in Pennsylvania.
